Our cruise had three ports of call: San Juan,
Puerto Rico; St.
Maarten; St. Thomas. We did shore excursions in each of the ports, and had a great time seeing the new places.
In San Juan, we took a bioluminescent kayaking trip, which allowed us to see the bioluminescence that's only in a few parts of the world. I had only been privy to it once before, in the Keys in May 1996.

almost to our first port!

sailing into port there are a lot of ruins

you can see some of the city's buildings

heading out on the trip. the current was fairly strong, beginners had a rough time

In St. Maarten, we took the morning and walked around the city. We stumbled upon a small shop where the creator of Yoda paints. We had him do a custom map of our cruise, and it's signed and dated. Then we took a photo!

welcome!

we got to take a water taxi

yep, the Yoda creator. Live and in person
In the afternoon, we took a hiking trip through the mountains and along the beach, and we got to see a lot of plants and animals.

lots of cacti on the mountains

this is a common cactus variety, but everytime we looked at one it made me laugh

near the end of the hike the group took turns climbing on the boulder

it's an Indian head. hair, eyes, nose, chin, can you see it??

there were a lot of goats in the mountains

walking back toward the ship!

there were a bunch of signs (Honolulu, Atlanta, Miami, etc.) but the fact they had one up for PSL was pretty neat!

we stopped for the best conch fritters ever

The Island

beautiful sunset in St Maarten
In St. Thomas, we did a few different things. We started out with a SNUBA trip, which was pretty amazing.

We went back to the ship for lunch, and then took a taxi out to another beach to use our sea scooters and snorkel around.

we got a great underwater photo of a turtle!
After that, we took the Skyride up to the high point of the island, where we could see all sorts of things. I also took the opportunity to buy a kate spade purse, which I adore.
